FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

My insurance company requires notification and prior approval before I receive treatment. Does Lincoln Surgical Hospital take care of this for me?

In most cases, Lincoln Surgical Hospital and your physician will help you figure out these requirements. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance company for details.

What if I need to file secondary insurance and Medicare supplemental claims?

As a courtesy to our patients, Lincoln Surgical Hospital will file all insurance claims on your behalf. Please keep in mind it is your responsibility to make sure we have complete and accurate insurance information. If your insurance company denies the claim, full payment for services is ultimately your responsibility.

What if I cannot afford to pay the balance on my bill?

Financial Assistance is available to eligible patients who are in need and receive medically necessary services as defined by our policy. Eligibility is based, among other factors, upon family income and number of family members in the household. If you think you could be eligible for financial assistance, you may request an application during Admission or by calling 402-484-9025 and speaking to a Patient Financial Services Representative.

I gave my insurance information at the Hospital. Why am I receiving this statement?

If our billing office has not received information that you supplied at registration, you will receive a statement. In some cases, we may not have been able to process information that you furnished prior to the mailing of a statement. We apologize if your account has not been updated with the relevant information prior to the statement being mailed and ask that you call 402-484-9025 to speak to a Patient Financial Services Representative to update your information.

What options do I have for paying my bill?

You may pay with a check, cash or credit card. We accept all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

When am I expected to pay my bill?

If you have insurance, you will be notified when your insurance has paid your claim. At that time, payment for any remaining balance is due within 30 days of the notification.

What if I don’t have insurance?

Lincoln Surgical Hospital offers a variety of discounts and payment plans. Please Contact a Patient Financial Services Representative at 402-484-9025 for details.

Why didn’t my insurance company pay in full?

Many insurance policies have a deductible, co-pay or co-insurance amount. Sometimes certain charges are not covered under particular policies. This may be the case with your insurance policy. For certain policies, balance billing is prohibited; we will not bill you for the balance unless indicated by your policy and permitted by law. To confirm your responsibility under your policy, if any, you can call your insurance company directly or speak to one of our Patient Financial Services Representative by calling 402-484-9025.

What other bills can I expect to receive?

In addition to the hospital bill you have received, you may receive bills from one or more of the following providers who bill independently:

  • The physician(s) who cared for you during your stay in the hospital.
  • The anesthesiologist if you had a procedure requiring anesthesia at the hospital.
  • Physicians who may have provided interpretation services for things such as lab work or x-rays for your physician(s), even if they did not see you.
Why do I have more than one account number?

A separate account number is generated for each date of service at Lincoln Surgical Hospital. This enables us to bill for specific charges and diagnoses relating to your care for that date of service only.

How do I change my address and insurance information?

Complete the form on the back of your statement and mail to the address on the front of your statement, contact a Patient Financial Services Representative at 402-484-9025 or submit the updated information via email to patientaccounts@lincolnsurgery.com.

What is my Current Balance?

Contact a Patient Financial Services Representative at 402-484-9025 for assistance with any billing questions. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
