Rehabilitation
Lincoln Surgical Hospital prides itself on its ability to help people achieve the most successful outcomes with the highest possible patient satisfaction. The rehabilitation department supports this commitment to excellence by delivering exceptional therapy services. During your post-operative stay at Lincoln Surgical Hospital, your surgeon may order physical and/or occupational therapy for you in order to begin the rehabilitation process. Therapy services provided by Lincoln Surgical Hospital are carefully tailored to ensure they align with your surgeon’s preferences and plans for your recovery.
Therapy services are available 365 days per year in order to ensure we are here to address your needs. You will be evaluated by a licensed physical and/or occupational therapist who will work with you to develop an individualized plan for your rehabilitation. The plan will be focused on identifying your needs and providing equipment, exercises, and interventions to help you succeed in reaching your rehabilitation goals.
The focus of therapy is on improving functional independence. Patients are typically here an average of 1 to 3 days following surgery. During this time your therapy will include strategies for improving strength, range of motion, balance, and coordination in order to help you recover the ability to walk, move, climb stairs, and dress yourself. Therapy will also include education regarding the rehabilitation aspects of your diagnosis. The therapists may trial a variety of equipment with you to determine the most effective and safest strategies for helping you to return home. The therapy staff works closely with your entire team of nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physicians, physician assistants, and case managers in order to ensure your success.
